Michelle Wie announced today that she is withdrawing from the LPGA's final major of the year - The Evian Championship.

Michelle withdrew from the Ricoh British Open early last month after playing just 12 holes. She has not played an LPGA event since. After a month of rest an rehab, Wie announced that her wrist has not recovered enough for her to take part in next week's major championship.

“After going through an evaluation with my doctors and my Physio team,” wrote Wie, “we have all concurred that my right hand is not quite ready for competition yet. So unfortunately, I have decided to withdraw from the Evian Championship next week. I’m extremely disappointed, but right now rehabbing my right hand back to pain free is my absolute first priority!! Thank you all for staying patient with me and for all the words of encouragement!!!”

Her instructor David Ledbetter said that "it is nerve damage due to bone spurs."

Michelle got off to a flying start this season when she won the HSBC Women's Championship in March. She has teed it up 16 times this year and has seven top 25 finishes.

Wie is scheduled to compete for Team USA at the UL International Crown next month.
