Let me start out today by giving a huge congratulations to Brooke Henderson for winning the CP Women's Open. Brooke entered the final round with a 1 stroke lead and had to hold off some of the best players in the world. Midway through the round she had top players Sung Hyun Park and Nasa Hataoka just one shot behind her. Ariya Jutanugarn was just one shot further back. Brooke then took things into her own hands, birdying the 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, and 18th holes. She would win by four strokes over runner-up Angel Yin. It was Brooke's seventh LPGA victory in just under three years on tour!

This week the LPGA travels to the state of Oregon for the playing of the Cambia Portland Classic. Founded in 1972, this tournament is the oldest continuous event on the LPGA tour.

Stacy Lewis won this tournament in 2017, but will not be able to defend this year as she is out on maternity leave.

My strength of field rating is 53% (substantially up  from 42.5% last year). Twenty-eight of the top 50 players from the LPGA Priority List, and twelve of the top 25 players from the Rolex World Rankings will be teeing it up. The field will be led by top ten players: So Yeon Ryu, Lexi Thompson, Shanshan Feng, Minjee Lee, Brooke Henderson, and Georgia Hall. Players skipping the event this week include: Sung Hyun Park, Ariya and Moriya Jutanugarn, Inbee Park, I.K. Kim, Jessica and Nelly Korda, and Jin-Young Ko.

I will post the pairings as soon as they are made available.

Here are the television times:
GC August 30 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM ET
GC August 31 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM ET
GC September 1  6:30 PM - 8:30 PM ET
GC September 2  7:00 PM - 9:00 PM ET

Players Most Likely to Win: (Top players in the field)
1- So Yeon Ryu - Is the top ranked player in this week's field.
2- Lexi Thompson - Can she bounce back from missed cut?
3- Shanshan Feng - Has been quiet all year.

Players to Watch Out For: (I'm feeling it this week)
1- Brooke Henderson - I successfully picked her last week. Why not again?
2- Minjee Lee - Because she contends every week.
3- Amy Yang - Has done everything but win.

Longshot Picks: (Not likely, but not impossible)
1- Bronte Law - Has three top tens and twelve top twenty five finishes this year. It's time for her to finish one off.
2- Austin Ernst - Still looking for that elusive second win.
3- Jennifer Song - Is playing the most consistent golf of her career.

Other Tidbits:
Lexi Thompson's missed cut this past week was her first in 32 events. Ariya Jutanugarn now has the longest streak with 28.
Brooke Henderson has jumped all the way to #2 on this year's official money list. Her five top five finishes are only topped by Ariya Jutanugarn and Minjee Lee.

Rolex Rankings Movers of the Week:
Brooke Henderson makes the most important move this week, leaping up from #14 to #8. Angel Yin catapults from #43 to #31, while Jennifer Song shoots up from #53 to #45. Su Oh jumps up eleven spots to #69. On the downside, Haru Nomura drops out of the top 100 (and out of my field rating) falling from #97 to #103.

Race to the CME Globe:   (1 million dollars)
Ariya Jutanugarn still remains solidly on top with 3,468 points. Brooke Henderson leaps all the way to second place with 2,370 points. They are followed by Minjee Lee (2,334) and Sung Hyun Park (2,088). Jin-Young Ko fills out the top five with 1,987 points.

Who's Hot:
Brooke Henderson has finished 3rd, 11th, seventh, and 1st in her last four starts.
Thidapa Suwannapura has finished no worse than 23rd in her last five tournaments.

Who's Not:
Moriya Jutanugarn has not finished better than 35th in her last five tournaments.
Morgan Pressel has not had a top 35 finish in her last twelve starts.

This Week's Trivia Question:
Let's see if anyone can go three for three.
1) Who holds the record for this event with a winning score of 21 under par?
2) Who won this tournament by the largest margin of victory?
3) Who was the last player to win this tournament in back to back years?

For the answer to this week's trivia question press here.
